About Our Partner

Children's Cancer Association

When seriously ill children and their families need more than medicine, CCA's innovative programs create joy one moment at a time.

The Problem

The pain and exhaustion of prolonged treatment is difficult at any age. For a child, the feelings of boredom and anxiety are often amplified because of limited peer interaction. MyMusicRx distracts the child from thoughts of illness while giving them a constructive way to express themselves. As the only "kid-prescribed" in-hospital and online music medicine in the nation, MyMusicRx delivers the healing power of music in a way no one else can.

The Solution

MyMusicRx fights the pain and isolation of hospitalization with bedside sing-a-longs led by trained music specialists, instrument lending from customized mobile music carts, concerts, and technology and headphone check-outs so kids can access CCA's digital program, MyMusicRx.org. This online music program enables seriously ill kids to play and download free music games, explore digital instruments, create original music, and watch exclusive video song prescriptions from their favorite artists.

Sustainability

Scientific studies support the many positive therapeutic effects of music, including relaxation, pain management, lowered blood pressure and decreased mortality rates.
