The mission of The Mountain Fund is to eliminate poverty, its causes and symptoms, in developing mountain communities around the world.
The damage in the capital of Kathmandu is extensive but the damage to the surrounding villages, especially those near the epicenter, is still unknown and likely to be worse. There have been many aftershocks, the largest so far has been 6.7, a large earthquake in and of itself. Nepal, already an extremely poor country, has been ravaged. In mountain communities the suffering caused by poverty can be overwhelming as the needs for basic amenities far outstrip the local resources.
Donations will go directly to help feed, clothe and house the people of Nepal during this devastating crisis. The Mountain Fund works hand-in-hand with community leaders to develop and implement effective solutions to outstanding problems in their villages.
The Mountain Fund continues to help the poorest of the poor and with your support, we will keep doing that.
